Keep Georgia Safe, the organization Diena was here to support, is on a mission to eradicate abductions, bullying and anything else that threatens the safety of our children. Through a national program called radKIDS that Keep Georgia Safe helps fund, Diena and others like her are making the plea to schools, communities and neighborhoods to get this program in the hands of our children. While the founder of radKIDS, Steve Daley, is quick to point out that there are no guarantees, Diena believes the knowledge and skills taught through radKIDS could have made all the difference. What a heartbreaking reality to live with.
As I listened to the radKID presentation, I quickly realized my meager attempts to arm my daughter were feeble at best. The radKID program is based on over a decade of learning models (i.e. how kids absorb and internalize information), as well as proven physical tools that really arm them with the best possible shot at breaking away from and fleeing their abductor. Locally, the program is in place at Greater Atlanta Christian School, and talks have begun with Gwinnett Country Public Schools. There are a few radKID trainers in the area and I am committed to organizing and sending my daughter for training this summer (A great byproduct is that the class, although serious, is fun and empowering for the kids).
If you are interested in sending your child through the radKIDS training, please reach out to me and I’ll let you know more details about this summer session. If you are interested in bringing the radKID curriculum to your school or community center, please contact Mary Ellen Fulkus, executive director, Keep Georgia Safe, at MaryEllen@KeepGeorgiaSafe.org.
Don’t wait, do it today. Not one more child!
