Should You Get Nipped and Tucked?

Jane Baskin thinks that if you don’t like what you see in the mirror, you should feel free to change it.

“I’m a big advocate of what I call Life 2.0,” said Baskin, a former social worker, anti-aging advocate and author of Jane of the Jungle. “What I’m referring to is the third stage of life, or the second stage of middle age. Because of the extended life span and the ability to prolong youth with medicine, diet, exercise and plastic surgery, old age is postponed.” She continues, “Life 2.0 is that time between cresting middle age and getting old. It should be as vital a time as youth. And if you feel young, you should look young, too.”

Beauty Tips on a Budget

Tiffany Fluhme, CEO of Fluhme Beauty and plastic surgery physician assistant, doesn’t believe women have to deny themselves to help balance the checkbook.

“The problem is, when a woman cuts out key items of her beauty and wellness regimen – makeup, skin care, her gym membership, etc. – it will definitely have an impact on how she feels about herself. It can affect her job, her friendships and even her relationships. That’s why I think it’s important for women to find ways to replace some of the more costly personal care activities with budget-conscious substitutes.”

Fluhme believes that women who routinely take care of themselves, tend to feel more confident and possess better self-esteem, which will reflect positively at work and at home.

Are You a Nontraditional Bride?

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials! Now it’s time to get to work planning your wedding. In the most simplistic terms, your wedding is a celebration of your commitment to your fiancé. Although there is a lot of tradition associated with weddings in regards to the white dress, chicken or fish dinner menu and the cake, think about what want. This really is your day and it should be a reflection of you and your future spouse.  Here are a few non-traditional ideas for a wedding:

The Cake
Choose a bakery that reflects your  taste. Some couples skip the traditional wedding cake and serve pie, cupcakes or something else sweet. Take time to really think about what you want for your wedding day.  However, if you do decide to go traditional and get a wedding cake, tradition dictates on your first wedding anniversary, you and your spouse eat the top of your wedding cake. That’s a sweet tradition you won’t want to miss, so plan to freeze that portion.
