Applause, applause. Local theater is alive and well in Gwinnett. Here's a front and center look at what's hitting the boards around town for the 2010-11 season.

Running track at Grayson High School, Caitlin McKenzie goes through a lot of shoes. After all, runners usually replace their shoes every 500 miles or so to maintain support and cushioning – often before the shoes are worn out for everyday use. So when one of her former youth leaders from Zoar United Methodist Church asked McKenzie to donate footwear for a mission trip, she quickly saw an opportunity.

The United Way's Women's Legacy was founded to encourage and mobilize women to become powerful philanthropists through leadership, fundraising and advocacy. Each year, the Women's Legacy in Gwinnett honors four exemplary women in the community that have made a difference in the categories of time, talent, treasure and legacy.

The calendar may indicate soon there might be some leaves falling outside, but that doesn't mean it's time to bundle up by the fire. If you're looking for a great place to vacation this fall, ditch the traditional cabin in the woods retreat and extend your summer by heading south.
