To many, it is a sacred demonstration of love, devotion and remembrance. Each day, around the world, candles are lit in reverent vigils to remember those who have been lost, to stand with those who are struggling and to honor those who have survived the hardest of times.

Helping Others

Running track at Grayson High School, Caitlin McKenzie goes through a lot of shoes. After all, runners usually replace their shoes every 500 miles or so to maintain support and cushioning – often before the shoes are worn out for everyday use. So when one of her former youth leaders from Zoar United Methodist Church asked McKenzie to donate footwear for a mission trip, she quickly saw an opportunity.

The United Way's Women's Legacy was founded to encourage and mobilize women to become powerful philanthropists through leadership, fundraising and advocacy. Each year, the Women's Legacy in Gwinnett honors four exemplary women in the community that have made a difference in the categories of time, talent, treasure and legacy.
